A Reality TV Star James Tim Norman Was Sentenced To Life In Prison For Arranging His Nephews Death. The Department of Justice announced in a news statement that former reality star James “Tim” Norman of the reality television program Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s has been given a life sentence for his part in the murder-for-hire scheme that resulted in the killing of his nephew.
On September 16, a jury determined that Norman, 43, had committed the crimes of conspiracy to conduct murder for hire, murder for hire, and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in connection with the 2016 shooting death of Andre Montgomery Jr.
According to the press release, Assistant US Attorney Angie Danis stated during the sentencing hearing on Thursday that although Tim Norman presented one picture to the public, there were more sinister intents concealed underneath. Which were hidden from public. and what a person does when they believe no one is looking is a good indicator of their character. He planned and carried out his nephew’s execution when he believed no one was looking.
The reality series that aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network for nine seasons included both Norman and Montgomery. The Norman’s mother Robbie Montgomery’s family was featured in the series, which lasted from 2011 to 2018, along with their St. Louis-based soul food restaurant, Sweetie Pie’s. Prosecutors testified at the trial that Norman plotted with others to murder Montgomery in order to collect $450,000 from a life insurance policy.
Travell Anthony Hill’s co-defendants, Terica Ellis, also pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit murder for hire and one count of murder for hire. Terica Ellis admitted to calling Anthony Hill, one of Norman’s co-defendants, and asking him to shoot Montgomery. Ellis also pled guilty and acknowledged giving Norman and Hill the address of Montgomery. For their participation in the scheme, Norman allegedly paid Ellis $10,000 and Hill $5,000.
When James Tim Norman testified at the trial, he denied ever bribing Hill and Ellis to harm his nephew. Waiel “Wally” Rebhi Yaghnam, an insurance agent, also acknowledged planning with James Tim Norman to secure a loaeception. He denied all allegations made after him during the trial.
Following Norman’s life sentence, FBI St. Louis Division’s Jay Greenberg criticized him for refusing to accept responsibility for the crimes in a statement.
Norman’s plan to have his own nephew killed, according to Greenberg, has caused agony and irreparable injury to five families, notably the victim’s. “At least all of his accomplices have taken responsibility. Despite the fact that 12 jurors unanimously found Norman guilty after seven days of trial testimony and evidence, Norman hasn’t admitted guilt to this day.
